Dry Rot Solutions

Dry rot (Serpula lacrymans) is the most serious form of fungal decay in buildings. It can spread rapidly through masonry and timber, weakening structural elements and causing extensive damage. At Northway Building Preservation we provide specialist dry rot surveys and treatments designed to stop the outbreak and prevent recurrence by tackling the root cause of the issue.

Effective dry rot control begins with removing the source of moisture that allowed the fungus to establish. We trace the full extent of the outbreak to understand it completely. Infected and unsound timbers are carefully cut out and replaced, while adjacent surfaces are sterilised using approved fungicidal treatments.

Where masonry is affected, we carry out targeted treatment to eradicate mycelium strands and spores. Ventilation is improved and moisture ingress resolved to create conditions in which dry rot cannot return. Replacement timbers are treated for added protection, and all works are completed with structural integrity and durability in mind.
